Optimizing your field development strategy requires identification of the surface locations and lateral landing zones that will deliver the highest production. Critical to the process is the implementation of seismically driven geologic modeling and reservoir characterization that defines a reservoir's Shale Capacity™, a key reservoir property that measures ability of the shale to produce hydrocarbons when effectively hydraulically stimulated. In conventional reservoirs, this is called the "reservoir net pay".
Using the proprietary CRYSTAL® platform, SIGMA³ creates integrated 3D reservoir models to identify sweet spots and predict well production. By leveraging reflection seismic with geologic well data, production data and any available reservoir information, SIGMA³ delivers Shale Capacity models created from key reservoir properties, including natural fractures, brittleness, Total Organic Carbon, and porosity, to capture the geologic heterogeneity that is contributing to variable well performance.
This workflow allows GeoEngineers to build models that can be validated with microseismic data and used to model the variable permeability within the stimulate reservoir volume (SRV) to then capture the produced volumes constrained by reflection seismic, geologic, geomechanical, microseismic, well log and production data.
Evidence from many shale projects shows that well performance is highly correlated to the length of the wellbore crossing the zone of high Shale Capacity divided by the total length of the wellbore (Relative Intercepted Shale Capacity). This unprecedented level of integration and analysis of the correlation between the Relative Intercepted Shale Capacity and well performance can allow you to predict performance of wells to be drilled in the sweet spots that are revealed by SIGMA³ Shale Capacity models.
